A delegation of capital market participants was led by the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) on a familiarization tour to Electrochem Ghana Limited.
During the tour, it was made clear that Ghana is poised to play a key role in the worldwide market, which consumes 271 million metric tons of the salt produced year.
With a concession area of 41,000 acres, Electrochem Ghana Limited is the biggest producer of salt in Ghana. It has been actively involving investors and stakeholders and driving transformation in the salt business.
The Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), Ms. Abena Amoah, praised Electrochem for its outstanding accomplishments and said that it was "very impressive to see such a project in Ghana."
She added that the GSE and capital market operators are now better educated about the investment and capital raising potential at the company since they have first-hand knowledge with Electrochem's activities. She continued by saying that the GSE offers a platform for gaining access to funding to expand business operations.
Lead consultant for Electrochem Ghana Limited Dzigbordi Kwaku-Dosoo highlighted the enormous potential of the salt business in Ghana and stressed that it has the ability to produce more salt than is currently needed in the nation.
She claimed that salt has more than 14,000 uses and is a vital raw ingredient for numerous businesses, including the pharmaceutical, food processing, and textile sectors. The industries of chloralkali and caustic soda rely substantially on salt.
With its substantial concession, Electrochem hopes to generate a million metric tons of salt annually.
